I was born on a family farm, one of seven siblings. I was the only boy with three older sisters and three younger sisters. Talk about being the middle-child! However, some of those middle child tendencies have served me well in life: listening, understanding, peace-making, negotiating, and co-operating. I believe these traits would be of value serving you on the city council.
I have lived in Roseville for nine years with my partner of 36 years and before that lived in Falcon Heights for 25 years, so I’m not at all new to the area. I am currently serving on the Roseville Planning Commission following 8 years service on the Human Rights Commission. In Falcon Heights I served on the City Planning Commission, the Human Rights Commission and the search committee for a new city manager.
Growing up on a family farm has instilled in me a hard work ethic, which has served me well in my successful 40 year career as a residential realtor and it will also make me an effective city council member.
Some of the things I will put this effort toward are openness and resident engagement in city government, helping Roseville become a “greener” and more environment sustainable city, increasing connectivity of bike lanes and walking paths to schools and shopping, and improving public transportation, and reducing traffic congestion.
My experience as a realtor and on the Falcon Heights/Roseville Planning Commissions helps me understand the importance of maintaining a balanced housing stock and protecting property values. As a businessman, I will have a commitment to supporting a responsible budget while maintaining the high level of services and quality of life we enjoy here in Roseville.
I hope you will vote for me for city council in the August 14th Primary and this fall in the general election.
